Golden Monkey Safari
While planning a primate safari in Uganda or Rwanda, you may consider including golden monkey tracking safari as part of your activities. Habituated golden monkeys do exist in Uganda and Rwanda and are in Mgahinga National Park and Volcanoes National Park and hence the saying that it is only in these two national parks where silver meets gold. That is silverbacks and golden monkeys.
Those interested in golden monkey tracking will be required to book their permits from Uganda Wildlife Authority in the case of Mgahinga National Park and Rwanda Development Board in the case of Volcanoes National Park. This golden monkey tracking permit will allow you sometime with these monkeys before returning back to your Lodge. At Eizoba Safaris, we do handle permits, transport as well as accommodation if contacted. In Maghinga National Park, one can go for a full day golden monkey experience where you set out with researchers and enjoy a whole day with golden monkeys. Chances of finding golden monkeys are high and should you fail to see them, Uganda wildlife Authority terms and conditions will apply.
Due to the fact that golden monkeys are found in Mgahinga and Volcanoes National Park, it is very possible to combine this activity with gorilla tracking or volcano hiking in either national park. If not interested in Mgahinga gorillas, you can try out gorilla trekking in the southern side of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park which is closer to Mgahinga.
